Opportunities

By this point, you may be asking, “Can I have a part in what God is doing in India at Mukti?” We’re glad you asked and the answer is yes!

Opportunities open in three main areas: praying, giving, going.

Prayer Partnership

Prayer is not just something nice to do; it is an absolute necessity for nitty-gritty, in-the-trenches, crises-around-every-corner ministry. Victory begins on our knees. As believers on both sides of the ocean kneel at the foot of the Cross, trusting the Lord Jesus for ministry specifics, His Spirit releases direction and power for passionate, God-honoring action. We need people to partner with us in regular, believing prayer.

Financial Partnership

Needs are great and growing. While Mukti seeks increasing indigenous support, India is only about 6% Christian. The largest number of unreached people groups live in India. Considerable finances need to come from outside India. We critically covet monthly, on-going sponsors: ministry costs/support, staff support, and child support. Costs are rising at alarming rates in India. The dollar no longer stretches as far as it did in the past. Won’t you give?

Volunteer Partnership

Volunteer service at Mukti is a joy and an adventure! Mukti is looking for mature, adult Christians to volunteer in many areas such as teachers for the English-Medium School, computer help, office work, child-related ministries, help with special needs’ children, capable therapists, writers and photographers. Although sometimes exceptions are made, we seek volunteers for at least 2-3 months’ service, but 6-months or longer are preferred.

Decided differences exist between the US and India. These differences need to be seriously considered and prayed about before deciding to sign up for volunteer service. For one, India is a developing country. Amenities do not exist as they do in the US, especially in village India, where the majority of Mukti’s ministries take place. Transportation can be time consuming, difficult, and frustrating. English is not the predominant language and, even when it’s spoken, the speakers may have strong accents, sometimes causing miscommunication. Culture, food and living conditions vary significantly. When considering service in India, you need to be aware that ‘expectations’ need to be left in the US and an open heart and mind be committed to flexing. Things do not happen and move in India at the same pace and in the same way as they do in the US. You will be thrust out of your comfort zone.

Having said this, however, volunteering at Mukti almost always is a life-changing, life-enhancing, faith-building experience. The bottom line is whether or not God is leading in this direction. So, pray, ponder and take a faith step as He guides. As Pandita Ramabai said and lived out, “The life totally committed to God has nothing to fear, nothing to lose, nothing to regret.”
